Sarevok Anchev — Murder Tribunal
Location: Murder Tribunal final chamber, beneath the Lower City (accessed via the Blushing Mermaid → Bhaal Temple).
Pre-Fight Checklist
- Long rest before entering the Murder Tribunal.
- Heroes’ Feast + Aid — Sarevok hits like a truck.
- Elixir of Vigilance — initiative matters.
- Bring Disarming Attack (Lae’zel) — Sarevok uses Sword of Chaos.
- Bring Radiant damage — Sarevok is undead-like (Deathbringer).
Boss Mechanics
| Enemy | Detail |
|---|---|
| Sarevok Anchev | Deathbringer, ~300 HP on Honour Mode. Sword of Chaos (heals on hit). Multiattack (3-4 hits). Deathbringer’s Legacy (bonus damage when targets are below 50% HP). |
| 3 Justiciar Ghosts | Spectral Bhaalists that channel buffs to Sarevok. Each ghost gives him a different buff: damage, AC, or healing. Kill them FIRST. |
| Echo of Amelyssan | Optional ally if you’re the Unholy Assassin. She helps you fight. |
Strategy
Kill Order
- Justiciar Ghosts FIRST. Each ghost channels a buff to Sarevok. Killing a ghost removes that buff. Ghosts have ~60 HP each and are Incorporeal (resistant to non-magical B/P/S). Radiant and Force damage work best.
- Sarevok once all ghosts are dead. Without their buffs, he’s manageable.
Tactics
| Tactic | Detail |
|---|---|
| Spirit Guardians (Radiant) | Walk through all 3 ghosts + Sarevok. Radiant damage cleans them up fast. |
| Disarming Attack | Removes Sword of Chaos. Sarevok’s damage drops significantly and he stops healing on hit. |
| Hold Monster | Sarevok is humanoid?! Actually, in BG3 he’s classified as Humanoid — Hold Person WORKS. Heightened Hold Person → paralysis → auto-crits. Verify creature type before casting. If Undead, use Hold Monster instead. |
| Prone-lock | Trip Attack, Enraged Throw, Command: Grovel — all work. Sarevok can’t attack while Prone. |
Party Assignment
| Build | Role |
|---|---|
| Shadowheart | Spirit Guardians (Radiant) — walk through the entire arena. Turn Undead if ghosts are undead. |
| Lae’zel | Disarming Attack on Sarevok. Trip Attack → prone lock. GWM nova. |
| Bardadin | Hold Person/Monster on Sarevok. Divine Smite on paralyzed target (auto-crit). Aura of Protection. |
| Storm Sorc | Magic Missile the ghosts (Force damage bypasses resistance). Lightning Bolt through Sarevok + ghosts. |
| Wild Magic Sorc | Fireball the ghosts + Sarevok. Disintegrate on Sarevok once ghosts are dead. |
Honour Mode Specifics
- Sarevok’s Deathbringer passive deals bonus damage to targets below 50% HP. Keep everyone topped up — Healing Word anyone under 50%.
- Sword of Chaos heals Sarevok on every hit. Disarm him immediately. Without the sword, he’s 40% less dangerous.
- Justiciar Ghosts are harder to kill in Honour Mode — they have more HP and resistance. Focus them with Radiant and Force damage.
Post-Fight
- Loot Sarevok: Sarevok’s Horned Helmet (crit threshold -1, stacks), Sword of Chaos (greatsword, heal 1d6 HP on damage), Sarevok’s Map.
- If you’re the Unholy Assassin: continue to Orin.
- If you attacked the Tribunal directly: the Bhaal temple opens regardless.
