Sorcadin (Honour Mode)
Final composition: Vengeance Paladin 6 / Shadow Sorcerer 6.
Why this split
Versatile in spells, gear and Metamagics — a solution for any situation. High Spell Save DC makes the crowd control (Sleet Storm, upcasted Command, Hold Person/Monster) genuinely effective. Paladin levels bring heavy armour, Defence fighting style and smites; the Shadow Sorcerer half brings Shadow Blade, quicken/twin and spell slots to fuel them. Patch 8 pushed this multiclass into broken territory.

How the Smite Loop Works (read once)
- First attack: Quickened Booming Blade (bonus action) smite + upcasted Shadow Blade ≈ ~250 damage — and you still have your 2× martial attacks for the turn.
- Add the Resonance Stone: disadvantage on mental saves + doubled psychic damage — “it’s truly over for the enemy”.
- Support: Sleet Storm (CC + damage), upcasted Command, Hold Person/Monster at a high Spell Save DC.

Combat Pattern
- Open: Quickened Booming Blade smite on Shadow Blade for the ~250 burst, then 2 martial attacks.
- CC windows: Sleet Storm for the whole table; upcasted Command and Hold Person/Monster at your high Spell Save DC — with Resonance Stone’s disadvantage on mental saves, holds almost stick.
- Sustain: Aura of Protection + heavy armour; smite remaining slots on the Vow of Enmity target.
Act-by-Act Priority
| Act | Priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Defence style, smite options, Bless/Command | Solid tank support from level 1 |
| 2 | Levels 7-9 (Sorc 1-3): Shadow Blade + Quickened + Twinned, Blur | The build arrives — ~250 first attacks |
| 3 | Sleet Storm, Counterspell, full gear | Broken territory |
Honour Mode Reminders
- You are the party’s CC backbone — save Sleet Storm and Holds for boss encounters.
- Resonance Stone is not optional on Honour: the disadvantage on mental saves is what makes Holds stick.
- Elixir cycle (Cloud Giant Strength + Bloodlust) before every hard fight.
- Turn Buffering tech (see Tips) is a natural fit — never spend the resources you fake-spend.
